So, I pulled into a gas station and had a look at the sign. At first I thought I saw $2.759 on the sign...not bad. Then I got out of the car and glanced at the sign and saw a new number: $4.019. WTF? I looked across the pump at someone else who was filling a little SUV of some sort and asked if that was right, and he said yes. The explanation was that there had just been a government announcement about the true state of our oil reserves, which were not nearly as good as we had all believed...even the pessimists. Demand was out-pacing supply and the gap was only widening. Then it dawned on me that this was it...the beginning of an up-swing that would make the Katrina hike look like a gift. It would mean more than trouble filling our cars, but a drain on the entire economy. I was scared.

And then I woke up. :eek:

My FE-related recurring dream always involves somehow being behind the wheel of a Honda Fit Hybrid -- even though Honda doesn't even make one. It's the same dream every time, too. It's a red Fit, with the 5-speed automatic (w/ paddle shifters). The dash is like an updated version of the 2003 HCH (still circular, but more "modern"). Of course, I WISH I had that car! A hybrid Fit would probably beat a Prius for FE and do it four $3,000 less. Oh well.

If I start having nightmares or dreams involing fuel. I will seek medical help. :)

I love it when gas goes higher. The higher it goes the more money we all saved by having hybrids....

Saved even more money by doing a serious drag reduction program on my 14 year old non-hybrid instead of buying a new hybrid or non-hybrid.

Yup. If you have a car you are happy with and its paid off then gas will have to go very high before buying a hybrid would save you money.

However, I think the current crop of hybrids are much nicer cars than the older cars. So if you compare features and safety then there is value there.

basjoos the mods you've done to your car, along with your expert driving skills is truly mind boggling. :cconfused:
I'm not used to seeing cars with the rear wheel skirts but have to say the job you did looks really nice, and notice the lines on the skirts match the rest of the body. Back when I first got my own car I was thinking of the same thing but alas, I'm just too lazy.

Tom I'll have to agree the newer ones are much nicer than older ones. Just look at new Civic vs old Civic. The only Gen-2 civic I've really noticed was Tiger's in Madison and quite impressed :) I really like his blue interior light package and would like to make something similar for my own Gen-1.
