On vacation, I was able to achieve 26.2 MPG with my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. Much of the travel was on two-lane flat road through-out the U.P. of Michigan. Van had six passengers with the air on and much of the travel was at 60MPH.
What helped was drafting my step-father's Buick Park Avenue much of the way. He achieved 37MPG over the same leg. I'm envious, as I had Park Avenue which seems to do a bit better than the 300 pound lighter LeSabre. I think the difference final gear ratios have something to do with that.
The next day was different. We travelled approximately 300 miles through Ontario, Canada along the Trans Canadian Highway around Lake Superior. There were fairly significant grades to climb, but I still averaged about 24 MPG overall.
So, some of the techniques are 'sinking' in a bit.
