Hello together,
this is my first post here. First of all, this is a great forum! Loads of useful information! I bought my scangauge because I read a lot about it here.
My car is an Audi A2 1.4 TDI (90hp), 3 cyl. Fuel consumption according to the manufacturer is 4,3 l/100km. Before I read about hypermiling I used to consume 4,8l/100km. Now I'm down to 4,0l/100km for a tank when I really try...

Ok now to my question:
Before I bought the scangauge I used to FAS on some parts of my daily way to work and back. After installing SG I realized that it turns off when I turn off the engine. I read I should turn my engine setting on the SG to "hybrid", so yesterday I tested this, but the SG came up with way too high values for fuel consumption then. At the moment I use the "diesel a" setting which works perfectly for me. Only problem is SG switches of when I turn off the engine...does anyone have an idea why this happens and what else I could try?

Thanks for your help
daniel

Unfortunately, hybrid mode implies gas as fuel, not diesel :(

In my car, keying only partly towards acc makes the engine shut down without shutting down the ecu. Maybe that could help you?

I tried that allready. SG shuts off anyways.
I also tried to kill the engine by going slow in a gear that's too high...same result.
Looks like I have to live with it. But I already learned a lot of other stuff that helped me reducing my fuel consumption.
Today I had 3,6l/100km on my way back home (60km). I got stuck behind a truck on the highway and noticed that I could get down to 3,4l/100km if I stayed behind. But that would mean driving at a speed of around 90km/h all the way. Usually I keep driving at 110km/h...

Interesting. I am going to try keying only a little towards acc to see if I can get my ICE to shutdown without having my ECU go down for a few seconds. I sure hope I can do it in my car.

Unfortunately, that is how the ScanGauge works. If it's not set up in hybrid mode, it will shut off a few seconds after the engine stops running. It was programmed to do that, regardless of what the ECU is doing. The hybrid mode avoids that problem, but as you discovered, that assumes you have a gasoline engine. I don't think much can be done until a diesel hybrid mode is created.
