We went for a checkup appointment on Wednesday just before lunch. The Dr came in and said, "you want to have a baby today?" Being a couple days past the due date, we thought on it, and decided to do it.

Drove across the street to the hospital.

Doctor broke the water at 12:30. Contractions started at 2:30. Baby was born at 8:12 that evening. As we hoped, no medication was needed. My wife was amazing. She's a tough lady. She had such control and composure.

Big sister took 3 hours total labor. She was 6.5 pounds. This guy was 2 lb bigger, and took a LOT more work. :(

We got to come home the next evening. Sleep is elusive, of course. Mom and baby are doing well. And I'm more than a little proud. :D

(Parking lot at the hospital was full. I hypermiled all i could, since we weren't in a time crunch. Mileage was bad anyway. I ended up parking across the street. Coming home last night, I did limited P&G and mostly nice-on instead of FAS. Tank is down a bit)

Congratulations Andrew and Family! At least you didn't have to speed to the delivery!:D

My little one is finally over birth weight as of today (1 oz!) and she's still wearing newborn clothing -- sounds like little Evan is skipping those clothes completely?

Things are easier at the 3 week mark but I hear they don't really settle into a good format until the 2 month mark...

Take care and enjoy that new baby smell. :)

Big sister is great. She's talking to him and helping as she can. She likes to get out the diapers and wipes for me to change him.

Congrats! Both mine were 8 lbs 15 oz! The boy (6 yrs) was 2 weeks late and the girl (11 mos) was a week early.

Andrew, congratulations to you both! Big sister looks very proud.
