Stocks; is GM a buy?

I don’t keep an eye on the stock marked every day. (and lately it is just to
depressing to see)
Looking at GM today I noticed it was in the $3 range.
That was depressing, (I bought my GM/Pontiac VIBE new last year) what
will my warranty be worth if there is no GM?

Anyway….. looking at GM, I see today’s $3 range is actually UP from yesterday.
GM stock spent most of yesterday (11/11/08) under $3.
GM is so large it is hard to imagine them not being around for a good time to come.
So…
Is this a good Buy time for GM stock?

No I don’t expect to find all the answers to the stock market.
I am more just sharing my disappointment in the GM.

Personally I wouldn't touch it. But that's just me.

My thought is that one could make a couple of bucks if you just take $100 and split it between GM/Ford/Chrysler - maybe 40/40/20. Odds are at least one of them will swim, and a dominant US automaker's stock should be worth at least $40/share in five to ten years. It's a good way to hedge your bets, limit your potential loss, and get a free vacation in five years.

I would call it a gamble, not a buy. High risks and high rewards--there's an opportunity there, but don't bet the grocery money on it.

There's a good chance that GM will declare bankruptcy. When that happens, all of their stock becomes worthless. So, no, GM is not a good investment right now. Ford, on the other hand, might be good, but I wouldn't be the house on them either.

O Yet another point about the market.
My house went down in value.
I suppose that is not all bad, taxable value is down.

Yes! I'd buy a million of $0 stock! Oh wait, I can't afford 1 million, not enough margin stuff....
