Hi All:

___The Oct. sales numbers are coming in…

___I have only seen VW’s so far and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. VW’s US sales were off just 7.9% vs. the same period a year ago. Surprisingly, Jetta sales were off 22.9%. I do not have a break down on the TDI but that number was a real hit to what I had hoped would be there backbone over the next few years.

___Good Luck

I'm not surprised. Their fuel efficiency sucks on the gasoline engines. Hey VW, bring over the 4-cylinders dammit!

I had the 2.0 4 banger in a 2000 Golf. I didn't really track MPG but I think it was mid 20's - The engine RPMs were screaming at 60 mph is was an Automatic. I loved the car, but you're right it wasn't that FE. Now they have the 5 cylinder engines in the Rabbit.....

Although the poor economy is probably the main reason. No one buys a gasoline VW for the fuel efficiency.

Apparently the 2008 US allotment of TDI's was completely sold out. They only had about 1300 to sell and were predicting the TDI would make up about 25% of sedan sales and 33% of wagon sales.
