New to the site and hybrids. Picked up a 2006 HCH-II about a month ago.

First, the "Adapting Hypermiler Techniques To the HCH-II" was awsome reading! I learned a lot. Should be handed out to people at the dealership when they buy their hybrid, IMHO. I tried out those techinques on a run into work last week and came in at 65.1 MPG! Can't wait for the engine to loosen up a bit to see how things turn out.

I'm intrigued by all the tips and tricks to increase FE that can be gelaned from a site like this. Trying to plan out some mods for the future, but not sure where to start. Guess the first will be Mobile1 0-20WT at the first oil change. Anyone have an idea what kind of improvement this might bring?

Thinking about aero mods for the front grill and rear wheel skirts, but that might be awhile.

I'd like to find some kind of LED replacements for the DRL's as I think I read somewhere they reduce the chance of an accident 15%, so I'm reluctant to full the DRL fuse.

Need to learn more about warm air mods.

Thanks for the nice welcome after I registered, Wayne.

Aero mods on the HCH II probably won't give a significant increase in FE to break even on cost. They also have the chance of actualy lowering your FE. But if you are doing it because they look good on the car there is no argument there ;)

Welcome! It will be great to see your progress. It's always great to have another HCH2 owner on board to share insights, trials and tribulations. Remember to have fun! :)

Broke the 66 MPG barrier on my drive in this morning! Guess the engine is breaking in, as EV mode seems to be becoming easier and easier to initiate. Can only keep it going on billiard table flat roads for short segments, but it's getting better!

And there's a lot of other stuff breaking in besides the engine, like operator headspace and foot. You'll probably see '70s soon. Exciting, isn't it? :)

Thanks Tarabelle. I really enjoyed your Hypermiling the HCH II post. It was a wonderful source of info.

I've been talking to my sister about my hybrid. She called me yesterday and told me she just ordered a Camry hybrid.

Thumbs up

My younger brother has been making biodesiel in his garage for years. So we are trying to keep it "all in the family"?http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif

Tomorrow morning I'll see how the commute goes.

How do I get these icons to work?
