2. IF it does not come with al the new ones then would it really benifit me?
3. How do you set up a Scangauge?
4. How do you find out if your car has DFCO?
5. What is a preprogramed scanguage?

Hi Borashadow:

___I will try and help …

1. Adds extra parameters to display other than the std. displays with some additional programming.
2. It comes with all ScanGauges now.
3. Plug it in, set your engine size and tank and you have the basics down.
4. With your Sierra in gear, let off the gas at about 25 mph. When you see RPM’s fall to ~ 1,100 RPM, you will feel a slight acceleration as the injectors come online. If your Sierra has Fuel Cut which it may not. You can easily feel it in your dads Accord.
5. The base and X-Gauges pertinent to your vehicle are already input so you plug it in and drive ;)

___I hope that helps?

___Good Luck

Ok so if I got this right then almost any new scangauge I buy (like if I bought it here) would come with everything I need? right? and if the car has fuel cut off then once the rpm's get too low while coasting the injectors will come online to keep the engine alive? but at higher sppeds ~30 and above when the gas is let off the injectors will be off too so no fuel being used ?

Yep any new Scangauge will do.
I recommend buying here. Wayne is good about shipping as soon as the order is filled. When I ordered I got mine before a friend who ordered the same day from Amazon. And! The support here is great.

I think you have the idea with fuel cut off but incase you don’t maybe this will help

What your talking about DFCO (Deceleration Fuel Cut Off). IF your car will do it. it happens when the car is Decelerating AND the engine control knows the if it cuts fuel the car (tires and drive train) will keep the engine going.

The car will slow a bit more as the engine is now also slowing the car down with out fuel. But then not using fuel is a good thing while hypermiling.

I have not seen a list of cars that will and won’t do DFCO. I can tell you my Pontiac Vibe will and my Mazda Tribute will not.
I know for 2 reasons.
1. I have gotten to the point in my driving I can easily feel DFCO
2. Scangauge has confirmed it.

Ok I think I got the idea now I just need to figure out if my truck has it. Maybe I'll have to try to feel it in my dad's car first. Today I let off the gas going about 35 and coasted all the way down to 25 the tachometer read about 900 or 800 which seems low to me but that is what it was at. I watched the Tach. and never saw any change in it between 35 and 25 coasting. I also paid attention to the feeling of the car and never felt any small jerk or anything. Maybe it will only Dfco at higher speeds or maybe it won't.

That would be a bummer if it won't because on one stretch of road on my way home I can go ~1mile without touching the gas especially if I time a light right. In fact I have to touch the brake several times to keep at about the speed limit. :) and it's not even that steep just steady downhill.
