Welcome back and a happy Monday to you all!

I'm back in the saddle with my last commute on this tank in the Elantra.

69F, 12mph cross/headwind from the S, overcast and drizzling:

69.3mpg for 22.3mi (Home to work)

The tank is back up to 66.2mpg over 1095.1mi using 16.5g and the guess gauge still has the needle covering the lower half of the E mark.

The temps are set to drop 15F and the wind will be in my face again on the way home... most likely with moderate rain, too.

Well guys, I filled 'er up. I finally got low enough in the tank that I was losing fuel pressure so I filled at a handy station instead of my usual Costco fill. Not bad considering this car has mostly been driven in high winds, rain, and generally unfavorable routes in an attempt to protect the Insight distance effort.

I think I might have the distance record in an unmodified gas powered non-hybrid car now? Wayne's Accord has been up to 1105mi but the iCDTi diesel got up to 1174.6mi. I pulled into the station at 1111.9mi and stuffed a mighty 17.049g into the tank for a record busting 65.2mpg average. ;)

48F, 11mph crosswind from the W, raining:

58.3mpg for 15.8mi (Work to gas station -- couldn't accelerate properly with low fuel pressure)
63.8mpg for 6.3mi (Gas station to home)

The current tank is at 63.8mpg over 6.3mi with 15.9g left.

Day Total: 64.2mpg over 44.4mi

:eek: If you keep that up you are going to create black holes and destroy space/time.:D

A great day today!:) From what our weather forecast is saying, this will probably be one of my last 100+ days. ~55F this morning and up to 83F this afternoon. Winds were from the S@ 5-10 this afternoon with gusts to ~20mph. An errand for my mom pushed me over the century mark-Thanks mom! Also, from the looks of segment 4, it looks as though I met Sean and borrowed Blue Swayed.:p
1. 97.8-11.0(home to work)
2. 77.0-6.5(work to Meijer for mom's prescription)
3. 105-12.1(Meijer to mom's)
4. 158-4.6(mom's to home)
Average for today was 100.2 and the tank is at 93.8 after 464.1 miles with 7 pips on the guess-gauge.

If you could think of a way to get it here without using any fuel I'd be glad to give it a go.:p But then again, maybe we should give my son(CobraPond) a crack at it since he taught me how to get the good #'s.:D

Nice job, Andrew!! :woot:

I don't know what was up with the traffic today. I ended up driving a fair bit faster than I usually do and took a detour in Anoka trying to avoid the typical FE carnage I see there.

Of course I got home and found my (purchased used a few years ago) 17" Apple Studio Display has a backlight inverter failure. The replacement is $109 :( :(

54F, 7mph tailwind from the S, overcast:

67.6mpg for 23.2mi (Work to home)

The tank is up to 66.4mpg over 51.8mi with 15.2g left.

A disappointing day for me today. The traffic was horrific this morning and I came home another way which had more lights in heavy traffic. It dropped down the tank average from 35.2 MPG to 34.2 MPG.

From home to work =31.0 mpg over 16.8 miles
From work to Kelly Services =28.3 mpg over 5.6 miles :(
From Kelly services to another one of their office= 31.0 mpg over 7.0 miles
From Kelly services to Home = 33.6 mpg over 9.2 miles

The tank sits at 34.2 MPG over 278.7 miles with about 5 gallons left. :( I hope that Thurday's commute would be better to elevate the tank average. :)

And besides that, according to the AAA, if the space/time rip didn't kill us all, the carnage on the road from all that hypermiling would.:p

Remember yesterday when I said that it was the end of my 100+mpg days? I lied.:p Not only that but I even did better today than yesterday.:flag: The temp this morning was similar to yesterday but this afternoon's temp was 15+F cooler than yesterday at 66F. Winds were from the N@ 5-10mph.

Had a nice experience this morning.
When I drove onto the highway for my 23 miles highway bit of my commute, I was behind a truck. Trucks in Belgium do (by law) 56mph while speed limit is 74.5 mph, so I backed of (so I didn't draft, 3 or 4 seconds) and stayed behind him. It's more exaptable to do 56mph behind a truck in Belgium. Other people just assume you don't have the guts to pas him. I noticed the truck wasn't even doing 56mph, but more or less 53mph.

Everything went fine, until I noticed there was a car following me (3 seconds) not passing either. If the truck slowed uphill, he and me slowed too, downhill we all speeded up again. A hypermiler?

Next came another truck (from behind) It did drive 56mph or even a little bit faster, and got stuck behind the car behind me. On a long flat strech he started to pass the car behind me, So I eased up from the pedal and slowed a little. When he was passed me I used my high beams to let the trucker know he was passed me and could come to the right again. He did, and thanked me with his emergency flashers.
He never passed the truck that was in front of us, since there was a new uphill section coming.

The guy behind me stayed there the whole time. Didn't get a close look, because he left the exit before me.
To top everything of, the stop and go traffic to the capital started right were my exit was.

It was the first time I got passed by a truck, now I feel like a real Hypermiler.

I need a SG. Finally located my OBD port (under the handbrake, behind a very difficult to remove cover) Any of you knew where I can get one in Belgium/Europe?

Sean, outstanding work in the Elantra! And for today...good possibility since the moon is full. I trust everything will go well for you, your wife, and the new little girl.

Well, after almost 3 months of work on a nearly $15,000,000.00 project, we were given the verbal 'its yours' yesterday afternoon. Ah that felt good! Just a mere 2 hours later, we got notice that the entire project is now CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE :angry:

As a company we had about 8 months into this, along with the architect, a dozen or more engineering firms, the general contractor, the developer... all #$%&@! wasted time and money... this job not going ahead unfortunately has the chance of making things very difficult in the next few months... not much work out there, and we needed this one.

oh yeah tank is at an only ok 34.4 for 178 miles...

41.8 MPG with two passengers Monday morning (56ºF)
43.6 MPG with one passenger Tuesday morning (58ºF)
45.5 MPG with one passenger this morning (64ºF)

I looked at my trip logs yesterday. My afternoon commute includes picking up my son from the baby sitter, it looks like I'd average about 12k miles per year. In the past month I've only driven 700 miles thanks to carpooling (300 miles/month saved)! I'm going to call my insurance agent and let him know that I now drive less than 7.5k miles/year (which is their rate cut-off point).

EDIT: Posted edited to reflect better scrutinized data.

Well, that worked out rather nicely! I tried a roundabout way of circumventing most of the Anoka downtown traffic and it seems to be a route with promise! It is 0.8mi longer but once I've got it down I think it will significantly reduce that hit I always experience at the end of my afternoon commute. had the day off, but went to a place just outside the mpls area to exchange a riding helmet. i had to take I94, and was very fortunate to find a semi doing about 60. i hung about 5-6 seconds behind him. i only had one problem tailgater, a semi who ran right up my bumper and stayed there for a bit, since the so called passing lane was bumper to bumper and no way to get over. i tapped brakes twice and he finally backed off, but had to honk at me when he finally got to pass. jerk. at my exit, maybe 5 miles down the road, i ended up 2 cars behind him.

for the 52.7 miles down there i got 65.4MPG. finished the trip home at 63.2MPG.

i did 60 both directions. the limit is 70, and i sure saw a lot of idiots. i don't understand how people have the courage to move into the left lane, which is doing at least 70 if not more, and force themselves between two other cars who were already too close together. WTF is with that?

i saw gas at 2.59.

This was my first 400 miles tank.:woot: I only tried this time becuase I only have 14 gallons of tank and I would chicken out every time once the needle would show about fourth tank full. :o This time it was between last tick mark and empty line. I managed to stuff up about 13 gallons.

I drove the past 12 miles with low fuel warning light on. My mom was saying that we are definately going to end up on the shoulder with flasher on calling for my dad with the gallon of gas. Thank God that did not happen.:D

Awesome moneysaver! you are really getting those numbers up! keep it up!

I dont really remember my numbers from yesterday..

42.9mpg 15.1mi
I did notice that my intake air temp is a LOT lower than normal. That would explain my low numbers...I'll have to warm it up somehow...I guess that's why winter gives such a hit!
