View Full Version : 'real world' Cadillac mileage

I have a job where I have an opportunity to get in A LOT of new and used Cadillacs. The average fuel economy in every car is between 18-22 mpg, no matter the year and model. There are of course a few below that, but I have not witnessed one above it, except when I have made some effort personally.

About 35 mpg at 50-55 mph is sustainable using foot control and an instant readout, but as soon as you hit a red light you can watch the tenths of mpg tick away, and if you need to use any aggressive acceleration you can almost watch the needle move on the gas guage.

I put gas in the owner's demo that was turned back in ... his (and the sales manager) average for just under 7000 miles was just over 13 mpg. This was a 07 Escalade 4wd. $20 for a quarter tank that cannot take it 100 miles. I just realized that they have put about 550 gallons in it ... that would be around 27500 in a HCH. I think I feel sick ...

I will say the V-series STS and CTS 6-spds are FAST ... but unusable on city streets. 0-60 under 5 seconds. Most speed limits are 55 and under here. I will reserve any negative comments since it is my job and I don't work hard for the money I make (I am a porter).

Oh, we are currently having a NFL player trade-in 3 vehicles for 2 Escalades ... including a very very nice 12 cyl BMW, 6k miles, appraised at 64k. I wouldn't mind taking a spin in it :Banane07:

Got a CTS here at work...I am honestly not that impressed. The thing needs to go on a diet and have some "plastic surgery"...the materials are not up to what I'd expect. Still the DI V6 is a pretty good motor and has potential for what it is.
