Had a really nice jerk on my commute in this morning. There is one section of freeway with an uphill incline for about 1/2 a mile or so and I will normally pick up speed and then DWL down to 50-52 in a 60 mph zone of course in the right hand lane while RR. Well this morning I knew I was going to have problems because about half way up I see a silver vette coming flying up and there is no out for them since there is a semi in the middle lane matching my speed. I try and be polite and hold my DWL right @ 55, meanwhile the vette claims his spot a mere foot from my bumper and then starts to flash his lights @ me, now normally when I get to the rise I get back up to the speed limit since there is another downhill section coming up that I like to build speed for, but today I decided to keep my speed glued @ 55 since the vette driver WAS so impatient.

I just don't get this behavior I'm in the right hand lane during an uphill pass if they want to drive 65+ uphill isn't that what the left hand lane is for? :eyebrow:

This is when I yearn for rear-mounted high beams.

We all need bumper stickers one that says "I slow down for safety when tailgated" and a second that says "I'll slow down if you flash your lights at me."

Seriously, what's with the right lane passers? They don't bother to look 50 yards ahead and see you, and then act as if it's your fault for being there first. "Keep right except to pass"??? The logical inversion of that is "To pass, go left".

I'd like a bumper sticker that was just a big giant left arrow.

it used to be, long ago when people had manners, that flashing your lights, perhaps once, indicated that someone wanted to pass you, generally if you were in the left lane.

when it became the universal symbol of scorn for going slow and to mean GET THE H#LL OUT OF MY WAY, i don't know. but it burns me no end when it happens. how rude and ignorant can a person possibly be who does this?

as i have said a lot recently.......i hate people, present company excepted.

Maybe I'm showing my age (or lack thereof) when I say that flashing the lights, especially when tailgating, is automatically hostile.

Behavior I used to see a lot around here, but haven't noticed as much in recent years:

Someone will approach a knot of traffic that has slowed for some reason, jink over into the right lane because there is sort of a space there, and then have to slam on their brakes because the traffic in that lane has been stopped for at least several full seconds already. They will usually lean on their horn at that point...

I really don't get some peoples' behavior sometimes! Even when I was speed-obsessed, if I changed lanes to "get ahead" and found traffic stopped, I wouldn't be blaring my horn at the people who were stopped for the red light or for all of the other cars stopped directly in front of them.

The real problem is when these idiots try to go fast in the slow lane.

What I really hate as well...is we get the ppl around here who won't let you merge in even though its the law. So they will speed up only to have to slam on their brakes 100 feet ahead for slowed traffic.

I still use my left turn signal to tell them to go around me. If you were to slow down, you wouldn't be beside the truck any more, and the 'vette would have a way around. :)

my fear those is if I had done that..is that these ppl are so self-absorbed and ignorant in their driving that they then wouldn't be prepared for me to slow anymore and slam into the back of me.

As much as I love saving gas I'd rather not go through that ordeal

I had a flasher last night. I was in a 55 MPH zone I was going around 46-48 MPH since it was like 12:30 at night. On a country road, no one around, I noticed the guy coming up behind me. I was going under 45, I slowly got up to about 48. There was no one coming the other direction for miles. Passing zones every few 100 feet. This guy sits about 100 ft behind me and then flashes his lights once. I stay at my speed since there was nothing for miles. We finally get to town where there are 2 lanes each direction he passes by me, I was expecting a finger or something. He just looked at me. Oh well, his fault for not passing. He wasn't even being very aggressive when he was behind me.
