I was driving back from a family get together in the wife's car at about 11:30 PM last Friday night. I drive "fast" in her car (compared to how I drive in my Fit) and was tooling along at 52 mph on the freeway in the far right lane.

Some older car is behind me and coming up on my tail at a slow rate, only they don't lane change. They proceed to tailgate me less than a foot from my rear bumper, swerve into the emergency lane and act like they are going to pass, honk, and flash their high beams.

Then another car comes up behind the tailgating car and tailgates them. I thought to myself, this is getting absurd:eyebrow:.

Then the second tailgater turns on the red and blue flashers and beeps the siren. The car tailgating me got pulled over and I had the biggest smile on my face.

I wish this was the outcome every time I get tailgated:woot:.

Hypermiler +1 Tailgater 0

LOL. I love that ending. Nothing like justice being served right then and there.

I think that the person who was tailgating you would have second thoughts and flashbacks from now on when having an uge to tailgate again.:) Good job by the Cop who who pulled over the dangerous driver and a possible road hazard.:flag:

I wonder, with cops being "informed" about the "dangers" of hypermilers and how we always tailgate/draft and roar thru stop signs...do they make an effort to stop tailgaters because they think they are "drafting"? If so, it would be awesome!

I'm still pretty careful around the police here. I mean I still hypermile when I'm on the road with them, I'm just careful not to let them know (ie, if I shift into neutral when I'm around them, I make sure that I'm far enough away that they don't know that I'm doing it...and I usually use dwb...it's a good excuse to put some distance between me and the patrol car or the private vehichle in front of me. Not that I draft...the only drafting that I do is distant drafting under very few circumstances). Part of the reason for that is you don't mess with Sherwood PD. The other part of it is I don't want to have to explain that to Sgt Bradford...my fourth cousin...of Sherwood PD. Cuz is a good guy but if he even hears about it the WHOLE FAMILY won't hear the end of it till the day he passes. But I have had a few times where someone tailgated me and then either passed me or I did a reverse pass on them, only to meet them later on down the road with a lovely set of blue lights behind them.

I wonder if Cuz was operating a set of them...

Anyway, I definitely understand that feeling when poetic justice is served!

It was amazing.

For a split second I thought I was in trouble, but in the back of my mind I knew I had nothing to worry about.

It was perfect timing by the police officer:cool:
