View Full Version : DairyQueen guzzlers!
PalominoJ 07-31-2006, 03:14 AM Hi everyone, this is my first post.
Yesterday, I was out getting some Dilly Bars from the local Dairy Queen for my work group and was confronted with a crowded lobby. Everyone in this small town seemed to be there, trying to escape the heat with a cool creamy delight. The problem was, the Dairy Queen was a small store and everyone who made their purchase immediately exited the store and sat in the automobiles idling with their A/C running and all the windows rolled up, enjoying their treats. These are people who probably lived less than 3 miles from the place (trust me-it isn’t a big town!).
Still think gas prices are too high?

Chuck 07-31-2006, 07:49 AM First of all, Welcome to CleanMPG!
I'm guessing you live in the Southwest, where there are plenty of Dairy Queens (but could be the MidWest) .
Being from Dallas, I still remember Mavericks's owner Mark Cuban's Dairy Queen remark.... :D
In one incident, he asserted that the league's manager of officials, Ed T. Rush (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_T._Rush), wouldn't be able to manage a Dairy Queen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dairy_Queen). When Dairy Queen management took offense, Cuban worked for a day at a Dairy Queen in Coppell, Texas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coppell%2C_Texas), where eager fans lined up in the street to get a Blizzard from the owner of the Mavericks. Cuban said his inspiration came from sales training he had from long time friend, Brian Feagley of Allied Home Mortgage.
HyChi 07-31-2006, 08:41 AM Here in my hometown there is still the same Dairy Queen that I grew up with. Ahhh, memories of those brazier burgers with the sesame seed buns... banana splits.. all enjoyed in the car with the windows rolled down and the radio on. What good is having ice cream while sitting in a refrigerator??? You have to combine it with the heat... Let the ice cream drip down the cone... as a kid that was the BEST experience! it may have been messy, but that's what the napkins and wetnaps were for! :)
Chuck 07-31-2006, 09:11 AM What I loved was the DQ Dude - a chicken fried burger served at the Texas and Oklahoma Dairy Queens. It had to have made a heart surgon faint - but is was so delicious. :D
laurieaw 07-31-2006, 02:35 PM gotta agree with you. that's one of my pet peeves, too. or the ones letting them idle while they run into the convenience store.......sheesh
johnf514 08-10-2006, 11:34 AM We have folks that sit in their cars for 10-15 minutes filling out their deposit slips at the credit union I work at, then enter the lobby (which is equipped with chairs, a table, pens, paper, and A/C) to do their transaction.
In internet lingo: WTF?
Hi Brandon:
___You can take this anywhere you want but if you are going to enjoy yourself, why do you have to do it wasting gas for no reason? After all, your Computer, monitor, the ISP server, the T1/T3 trunks, my ISP server, my OTA broadband connection, my computer and monitor are sucking down juice as well … Using fuel/energy wisely until we transition to PHEV’s or EV’s on Solar or something else can only help. Throwing it away is absolutely nuts :(
___Good Luck
___Wayne
