WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (July 25, 2006) - The compact vehicle segment outpaced the field for the 19th straight month in Auto Remarketing's year-over-year comparison of Power Information Network's retained value report. After keeping steady at a 7.6-percent increase in both April and May, the segment jumped to 9.3 percent, according to the June 2005/2006 data.
The midsize segment (4.2 percent) gained a spot while dropping 1.2 percent from last month to move into second place among PIN's eight super segments. Third place SUVs (3.7 percent) picked up three spots and led the luxury segment (1.7 percent) by two full percentage points. The bottom four segments lost retained value in the comparison, with sports cars (-0.1 percent), full size (-0.4 percent), vans (-2.0 percent) and pickups (-2.5 percent), completing the roster.
Sports cars and compacts remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in PIN's days-to-turn measurement, with sports cars logging the only decrease in the report by one day over the June 2005 data. The midsize, pickup and SUV segments tied with compacts in the No. 2 position, showing no change in days-to-turn. Vans (-1), luxuries (-2) and full-size units (-4) rounded out the bottom three slots.
