Tom,

And you like (Trust) there words on this Repair thing. I think if you would admit it you are really beginning to fall in "Love" with this (Great-Loaner) that you now have to enjoy. Right? ;)

Next thing I look to see in a Thread is, {HEADLINES} Baleno Buys Loaner car. :p

Brings a thought - when will they lease hybrids?

To ask in another way, when will the backlog go down to the point hybrids can be loaned?

Delta;

I think the Lease thing will probably happen. I don't look for there to be "Loaners" in the Hybrids for a long time. Fuel prices stay up and more and more people switching over to the more fuel efficient vehicles every day now (Hybrids). So dealers are still, like in calif. still charging over the MSRP by a good margin for that additional Profit. There is going to have to be a much greater supply produced and readily available on the dealers lots. Then the dealers will be in a position to have a certain amount of the Hybrids to use as Loaners. Honda if I recall the production for the 06 HCH II, is I think only 28K vehicles. That is not many vehicles for the USA market. I don't think we will see any Loaners for maybe the next 2-3 yrs. to speak of. If fuel prices do-not level off and stabilize some I think the public will keep on buying the Hybrids as fast as the manufactures produce them and the dealers that sell them are raking the Profits in.

Terry
BTW, I do think we will see the Very large Rental Companies with Hybrids in the very near future on a limited trial basis. I think the reason we have not seen them (Hybrids) there yet, is they can't purchase them cheap enough.

Tom,

Your not on chat, so does that mean that you are over picking up your car?

If you did pick it up today or had further news about it, let me know?

I had a "kick off" meeting. Which is basicly a ra-ra speach about what our division plans on doing this year.

Oh. Before I went to it though I did drive 1 hour home and picked up my car and drove 1 hour back to work. ;) I was 30 minutes late for the meeting but I have my priorities ;)

I'd rate the job 6 out of 10. The pannel fit was less than perfect but not too bad. You can notice the quality compared to factory. Also, the paint isn't perfect since it doesn't change colors like the honda paint does.

I am thinking I may at some future date I may have honda replace the rear fender.

The plus side is that it was a warm night (39ish) I had about 100lbs of equipment removed from my trunk. This lead to a 59mpg trip home from work.

I've had a few vehicles repaired myself and the jobs never did suit me. Soon after I would trade the vehicle off. I just could not stand seeing the difference in the factory fit and finish, versus the Body Shop's work. It goes without saying that according to our personal "Budgets" that sometimes even if we don't like the finished product. We may just have to swallow our pride and live with the vehicle until we are in a position to do something else. (Trade-It-Off)

At least you have your own car back and not the rental.

This lead to a 59mpg trip home from work. Not to Shabby for a Chicago Guy: ;)

I went thru a bit of this recently with my IMA battery pack problem.

I'd prefer the "underpromise/overdeliver" estimate than the overpromise/underdeliver" estimate.

That's what I tell people at work when they always say "you always get stuff done fast" The reason it appears fast is that I tell you it will take two weeks and it takes me a week. If I told you a week and it took me a week and one day you would say I never get my stuff done on time.

If they said "it will take two weeks to fix your car" I would have accepcted that and when they came back 2 days early I would feel they have done better than expected. Instead every day I would wonder "is today the day"

Overall they did an average job on the car in a reasonable amount of time. Certainly the work isn't show car quality, but its not too bad.

Had a brand new ZR1 Vette and a Guy backs down the street to look at it. He mis-judges the distance between his car and the vette and side-swipes it, tearing the drivers mirror right out of a ($70,000 Dollar Vette.) Brand new, like two days new. Had the drivers door replaced and went back to the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green, Ky. and they re-installed the Stickers on the drivers door that comes from the factory with the Vin# Etc.

Traded it off the Next Week for a Mercedes, Could not stand to look at it and remember the mirror hanging out of the door. Hey, that's just silly me. I hate messed up New things that I am working every day to pay for.

Anyway I am glad the finished job was as you say, {Certainly the work isn't show car quality, but its not too bad.} So maybe you can over look it and not follow my path and spend a bunch of money, to replace it. Cars are and always will be, a loss of our monies from day one, right after we sign the paperwork. I am just a, can't help myself Pefectionist and being that way can $ cost $ a person alot of bucks, sometimes. Just has to be a certain way, always. ;)

Hi Tom:

___When are you placing all the stereo gear back into her and how easy was it to remove? Just in case you were to ever attempt a record tank out of her or something? Oh boy do I have plans … ;)

___Good Luck

Well, it was reasonably easy. I plan on getting a fiberglass amp rack and sub enclosure made which will probably be harder to remove. I'm going to put an amp and sub in my car for my trip to the audio place so they can get an estimate of how much it will cost and how they would make the most of my trunk space.
