20 mpg is what I get avg on my minivan, and at $3.89 gas prices that would be suffering too much! I'd be better if you get a $4K beater car! My 50 mpg hwy 99 Civic HX cost me $3813 after tax!
Gas is actually 3.67 near my house right now!
I can suffer the low mileage, because i know my car is cooler than all yours :D

I think you will be doing even better in a short while. It takes a little time to digest and practice some of these techniques, but as you progress, the time is shorter and the effects greater.
I wouldn't mind finding an older Geo, cheap.

The key is mostly just driving slower. Wranglers are not at all aerodynamic, so I try to just barely stay in 5th gear to maximize efficiency. I do a bit of coasting with ice off on the bigger hills too, but there is often too much traffic.
