Any thoughts as to what I can reasonably expect MPG-wise using HyperMiling in my 2007 Chevy HHR? it is EPA rated 23/30 (City/Hwy); just curious what I should be shooting for.

Not really sure. Do you have the 2.2 or 2.4 engine? I see you have the auto transmission. I can give you an idea with my car. My car's original EPA rating was 20 city and 29 hwy. I drive in the city and am approaching the 28 to 30 mpg range. I'd say with your vehicle you could easily reach 30 in the city with careful driving. Not sure what you should be getting on the highway.

Kev, I usually figure on 125% over EPA as a good baseline. To get to 150% over EPA usually takes some more advanced techniques and greater concentration. Your EPA numbers are 23 city, 26 combined, 30 highway. Base your goal on whether you are driving mostly around town, mostly highway, or a mix of the two. Then multiply the appropriate number by 1.25 to get a good starting goal. Your signature shows 126.18% of EPA, so you're already there if your miles are mostly city or combined city/highway. After that initial success, nail down the techniques you use every day until they become your normal driving style. Then you can select a new technique to test. See what works best for your driving environment. At 150% over EPA, you're talking 39mpg combined, 45mpg highway. It's within reach if you set the goal and work to achieve it. My brother is currently in the low 30s mpg in his HHR, and he's still running at stock tire pressure. This week, he will air them up to 44-46psi and see if the mpg's really come to life.
