Last week, someone at work came by and said her Lexus LX300 is in the shop and the loaner is an LX400h (the hybrid version). We talked for awhile, mentioning her experience is not going to be like my Insight experience except for the dashboard. Autostop is something she is getting used to.
She admitted to driving on the fast side, and I tried to persuade her that the dashboard can teach you how to reduce your FE penality speeding by not varying your speed, etc. (i.e. was not expecting to get her to hypermile).
We also touched into all those infamous articles that state you never break-even, and told replied I've more than broke even, and more will than five years ago. Mentioned that hybrids are not for the gearheads (she's not), becuase if a lead foot is cruising using both the ICE and electric motor, the battery pack costs will far exceed any possible gas savings.
Hope she notices the dashboard.
