ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A slumping market for trucks has one Albuquerque dealership taking drastic steps and getting national attention because of it.

Zangara Dodge is cutting sticker prices on its Dodge Rams by 50 percent. Managers said in the last 90 days they've seen a 30 percent decline in sales on the Ram.

Managers also said the sale actually puts them at a loss. They lose about $10,000 on each truck, but said they need to move the '08 trucks out to bring in the '09s.

but said they need to move the '08 trucks out to bring in the '09s.

that proves it, it's not just the domestic auto makers that don't get it, at least some of the dealers are just as clueless

"we are going to take a loss on this truck so we can fill out lot with other trucks to sit there"

Keep selling at MSRP. And when you're out just place an order for two or three big trucks. A month. At most.

And then begin demanding small cars or threaten to change your dealership to a brand that actually has something that sells.

If you read to the end of the article, you come to this line: "The owners there said there is a 19 month waiting list for the Smartcar."

Is further comment necessary?
