I am here in Southern Cal driving a 2008 Mazda 3 with AT. It's a rental. I did not bring my sgii and I did not pump up the tires. I believe it's the 2.0 liter, and it's rated at 22 city, 31 highway. I have been in severe stop and go each morning while going from San Pedro to Pasadena and back on the 110 fwy. Part of the time I can use the carpool lane, other times, I can't.

I drove 161.0 miles using 4.438 gallons, earning 36.277 mpg. I can only imagine what I'd do if the tires were pumped and the sgii were present and calibrated.

I really like this car, and it's so much easier to get 36 with this than it is with my crv.

I love how well the basic hypermiling techniques work no matter the vehicle. I use NICE-on coasting in neutral, Pulse and Glide, and turn the car off at lights. I have used the A/C a little.

Now if I could only get my father in-law to stop driving his Sequoia like he is qualifying at Martinsville....:)
