Well it's old( sorta like me) and I'm trying to boost things back to where they were when new. So I've had the tuneup. New spark plugs on this baby ain't cheap. and I've increased the tire pressure to 44. What else do any of you suggest? Keeping the main battery charged to the max helps but in the heat of South Florida that seems to be difficult on short trips around town.

I've got the same in Dallas, and absolutely know what you meant about Sunbelt weather.

Do you know if your Insight has all the software updates? Years 2000-2001 needed them as the software was not properly tweaked...should be at no charge to you.

What's your current and previous mileage and how many miles do you have on it? Also, do you have the original IMA battery or has it been replaced?

Have you replaced the 12 volt battery lately? I like to trickle charge my 12 volt once a month and I run a gas/injector cleaner through it every few months.

One possibility is to replace (or clean) the EGR valve. You'll know if you need this because the car will buck and jerk when you're trying to cruise at low throttle - say 45-50 mph in 5th on level ground.

Replacing is easy if you're at all mechanically inclined, and a new valve is about $125 if you order online from e.g. Majestic Honda.

Tire pressure is a biggie with the low hp of an Insight. When you get familiar with the 44psi, try inching up towards 50psi.

Hot air intake

Grill block

Block heater

All of the above if you have a Scangauge. If not, put Scangauge #1 on the list.:)
