On Wednesday, July 9, 2008 I was on my way to work. I ended up behind a huge Toyota 4 Runner 4 wheel drive. Amazingly, the driver of this huge monster was hypermiling. I was matching my soft start from red light and acceleration perfectly even with this monster. Glad to see it's catching on. At first I thought it was an out-of-town college student looking for a party but they went right past the university and it's drunk fest strip.

I think it's great when drivers stuck with big trucks and SUVs try hypermiling because (for example) if they use 20% less gas, it's like me using at least 40% less gas, in terms of gallons saved. Huge potential.

Although I have not definitively identified hypermilers out there, I noticed a lot more folks are driving slower on the highways lately. :D

Not to mention the fact that some people need larger vehicles and still want to try and save $$$.

I also think it is great to see people with SUVs hypermile or try to at least. I am glad they are conscience enough of saving gas and the environment.

Unfortunately I can't say that drivers in the interstate around Cincinnati have slowed down, they are still in a huge hurry and pass me, even though we get to the exit at the same time makes me smile when I have then in front of me.
