I know the badge says she's not a VW, but most of the components under the surface are those of a VW Polo so I guess she fits in as well here as anywhere.

Does anyone happen to know where the OBD port ought to be on a 2002 Skoda Fabia? I want to get her a Scangauge (I picked her up a year ago last week so I guess you could call it an anniversary present!) but I can't find the port and I don't want to splash out on the Scangauge only to find out Skoda didn't bother with the port on this model.

Any help much appriciated

thanks

Hi mongoose, check in the driver's footwell or by the hood release. I think OBD is a North American thing so I'm not sure if your car has it? Your car will have a VAG-COM port which looks identical to an OBD port but whether or not the car will respond to OBD queries through the port is another matter that I'm not so sure of.

Thanks seftonm, as far as I understand something similar if not the same was phased in over here between 2002 and 2004, so my car is on the old side for it but I have my fingers crossed. The Scangauge will apparently talk to the EU version so it's just a case of figuring out if I have it or not.

I know there's a factory option for an economy readout on my car, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Just a shame the guy who bought it first didn't take up that option!

just got an e-mail back from the guys who market the Scangauge here in the EU, they say my car is fully compatible :) now I just have to find that pesky port......

found it! thanks to a pointer from the chaps at Telematica, I have located the OBD port on my Fabia. It is behind a little cubby-hole cover below the headlight switch.

Now to buy me a Scangauge :)
