Hey guys, I wanted to share a tip with you on how you can get scangauge type information such as Gallons Per Hour, Liters Per Hour, Liters Fuel, Tach, Speed etc... It will also display trouble codes if present.

You must have a 99+ Ford with a DIGITAL ODOMETER.

To display:

As you start the car (or switch to Key On Engine On) position, hold down the odometer reset button for at least 5 seconds. Your gauge needles should all max out then return to normal and the odometer will flash "TEST GAGE", and then release the odometer reset button. Simply tap the Odometer reset button again to scroll through the various displays. Um, what else...

oh, to make it go away again, turn the key off. You must do this each time you turn the car on to see the display, but hey it's neat and it's also free if you don't want to buy a ScanGauge because you get some of the same functionality.

Best,
Ghost

These are data used for internal management. You need to check the validity of calibration.

I can do the trick to get my odometer to act as a digital speedometer, but it's inaccurate. The needle speedometer, which is intended to provide the user with the speed is more accurate, based on comparison against my GPS.

Yes, it's the Ford Service Tech menu.

When I've used it the digital speedo and tach have been dead on, but I have only used it on 99-04 mustang 3.8Ls, 2000 Windstar and a 2004 Focus 2.3L 5MT

It works on my brother's 03 Focus, 04 Mustang GT, 04&05 Taurus, 05 F150, 07 Mustang GT. This doesn't read out fuel consumption. Not really useful as far as alternative to a Scan-gauge. I bought scangauge - really nice - I like it because it constantly nags me to go easy on the skinny pedal. I'm getting 30MPG out of a 97 Mustang GT V8 5sp!
