My goal was to hit 30mpg this tank (my second tank since starting hypermiling tehcniques), and I exceeded it by 1.6mpg! :Banane03: I'm so excited. Can't wait to see if I can improve that even further on this next tank. I'm waiting for a bonus to come through before I can buy the scan guage II, so for now I'll have to just keep working on technique.

I've been doing gentle starts at lights
(trying) to time lights
Upped my tire pressure to the sidewall max
pulse and glide
nice-on

I changed my route a little to avoid a hill on my drive home, but it's only been 2 days for that, so I'm not sure it helped much yet. I'm going to do it for this new tank and see if it makes any diffrerence. The route change means some freeway driving, and adds 10 minutes to my drive (makes my route longer), but for the gas savings, I can definately live with it.

I've also done a small amount of turning my engine off at lights. (Working my way into more of that one.) :p

LOL this sounds exactly like the post I made awhile back. Hang in there. I had a 30.0 followed by a 30.5, and the current tank I'm on right now should beat that by at least 1 mpg. It's funny we said almost the same thing too (I think my line is "take that oil man!").

Nice work Skoosh! We are all kickin' some OPEC a$$. Keep pushing that goal and adding methods to your arsenol. If you haven't already, I would recommend that you start a milage log here and here's the instructions: http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5095
Good luck and happy hypermiling to you! :D

It's a great thing! Stealing barrels of oil everyday! And getting just a little bit richer in the process...!

Hi Skoosh:

___All I can add is it is great to see you just as enthusiastic and thank you so much from all of us for taking the time to save those gallons.

___As many have commented as of late, Hypermiling makes driving fun all over again :)

___ChenZhen, I “know” you are having fun with this ;)

___Ikea, 54 mpg in your HCH-II? The EPA says it is only good for between 40 and 43 mpg per the new EPA. You must be a danger to yourself and others while following those evil posted speed limits or something :D Way to keep doing your part for the rest of us as well!

___Good Luck and keep enjoying the savings all the way to the bank!

Thanks everyone! It really is exciting and so much more fun to drive now. Next goal is to push 450 miles to a tank. With all I've read here, I'm confident it possible.

(And I created the milage log, and hopefully did the URL stuff correctly so it shows in my signature.)

Hi Skoosh:

___Kicking @$$ and taking names I see ;) Your Mileage log is up and you are good to go. I changed your 02 Accord’s FE to its actual EPA estimate from 02 vs. the new 08 EPA estimate and you are very close to pushing into Expert status with another few mpg’s over the next tank or two :)

___Good Luck and congrats!

thanks very much Xcel, I appreciate it. I got the previous FE from the fuel economy site listed in one the of the artcels, but didn't now where to find the new one. I'm very happy with my progress so far, and looking forward to even more.

fueleconomy.gov (http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm), then click the "Compare to Official EPA Window Sticker MPG" for the ratings on the original window sticker.
