So I've been reflecting a lot on the media coverage we've been receiving and how that has impacted some of the questions I get asked by friends. On a recent trip up north, I stayed with old friends from my college days. While riding behind them in our car, they noticed my driving was a bit different and, after arriving at our destination and proudly proclaiming my mpg for the trip, they immediately asked about hypermiling and drafting *sigh*. :( Of course, I explained why we discourage that and don't promote it, etc. but it also got me to wondering: What exactly is and isn't legal in my state, let alone any of the several states I passed through on my way to Maine.
Of course before answering that I need to know where to look and that is where I'm looking for your help. If this has been done before please just point me to the appropriate thread. Otherwise, can someone point me to a listing of the rules and regulations for Virginia as a starter?
On a side note, someone in another thread recently suggested some kind of a matrix with what techniques are/aren't legal in your state. I second that idea. It would be most helpful. Perhaps those of us who are interested could look it up for our state, post our findings, and then aggregate them all into a quick matrix. Naturally, we'd want to confirm it was correct lest we recommend as legal techniques which actually aren't. Just a thought...
Thanks in advance - Midiman :D
