Our good friend Marcelo de Luz, and his Xof1 Team are in the middle of a record-setting 10,000 mile+ journey around North America in his solar car. They started in Toronto and are headed to the Arctic Circle and back.
They came through Madison, WI on Wednesday and then headed to Minneapolis, MN.
Unfortunately they got stuck as they crossed the border into Minnesota when they were stopped by state troopers.
Here's a link to the news story.

Put Wayne behind the wheel and it should be good for a round-the-world trip. :D

I drove with him on a leg from Madison up Hwy 12.
Best cruising speed was ~40 mph.
Marcelo uses a lot of the hypermiling techniques especially those related to keeping momentum.

He has 4 lithium ion batteries on board which get charged from the panels.
He can go ~200km on the batteries alone if there isn't any sun.

This NPR piece (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=94312354) says that he's been pulled over 7 times . Ouch, that's got to hurt his momentum.
Well I hope things keep going well for him.
