I think I figured out how to do P&G in my minivan. Over a stretch of road about a mile long, I used P&G between 34 and 40 MPH and averaged about 30 MPG. Previously, I was only able to get about 22 MPG over that distance. The key was to accelerate more quickly, at about 2000 RPM, rather than to accelerate more slowly. My accel times took about 5 seconds and I was able to glide for between 10 and 12 seconds (depending on elevation changes).
Needless to say, I was shocked at how effective this was. Perhaps my "glide" wasn't a true glide because I just coasted in gear, but even on my ol' pig, my version of P&G worked very well.
