This last Weekend, I went to visit my friend Steve Woodruff and his PHEV in Scottsburg, IN. When I got there George Gladic with his PHEV was also there. He was replacing his OEM rear springs with a more beefy set to compensate for the additional weight of the batteries.

Steve's PHEV uses lithion ion batteries. He bought the batteries directly from the supplier and has installed then himself. I don't have a run down on his costs, but he said the batteries alone cost about $6000. The box that the batteries set in is from Plug in supply. He is very happy with his set up, although he is still "tweaking" the arrangement.

George's PHEV uses lead acid batteries. He also uses the battery box from Plug in supply. Here is a run down on his cost for parts. It does not include labor. George said the lead acid batteries will last about 2 years. He has a 20+ miles range in just EV mode.

Battery box $1100
ZiVan Charger $1040
Batteries $520
Can0View V4plus $500
Lilliput Monitor $300
PC Board $70
Miscellaneous $500

Total $4830

A couple additional cars. Notice the Prius pulling a trailer. Steve says that he gets 40+ on the highway in this configuration.

I like the pics, and thanks for the cost breakdown.
I met George at the 5th annual Brewers game hybrid get together a few weeks ago.
He said he is coming to Hybridfest this year. Any idea if Steve plans n coming? I'm sure people would be very interested in his Lithium set up!
