Hi WH:

___Late 09 as a 2010 model.

___Still waiting to hear on the ICE. I am hoping to hear of the Euro 1.2 SI-ICE w/ ECOboost but I suspect Ford will only catch the Fit/Yaris with a 1.5 or larger for HP reasons again () and Toyota/Honda will come around with their hybrids to bury the Fiesta's launch once again :( Let us also hope we get the 5-door and not just the three door as Ford is so prone to do.

___Either way, the Fiesta B-Class sized hatch is the coolest looking small car out there!

___A little history on the current Euro Fiesta, the 3, 4 and 5-door Verve/Fiesta replacement concepts and the latest almost finalized Fiesta near the bottom.

Thats one snazzy looking car. Needs a huge grille block though...:p

Heres a quote from yahoo cars:
The 1.4-litre TDCi has just 67bhp to call upon and a pedestrian 14.4s 0-60mph time but an outstanding 64.2mpg combined economy showing and a full 160Nm of torque at 2,000rpm mean that this unit has a muscular feel and a puny appetite.

Sounds good to me!

Hi Vtec-e:

___I suspect the new 1.4 will be a wee bit more advanced than the last with possibly higher common rail and injection pressures, piezo’s and a third gen turbo. Possibly? Add that to the Fiesta’s Mazda2 underpinnings which are 100 #’s lighter and yet safer including the entire safety air bag package and you have the makes for one hell of a nice fuel miser. Besides it looks so damn cool too :D

___Ford should take the new Fiesta with the 1.4 or 1.6L TDCi around the world and smash VW’s lousy 52 mpg FSI record to smithereens!

Wow, great news. Now they just have to complete the package with a nice small engine (or at least an option for one)!

Wow I want those rims :D

I hope for Ford's sake the interior is something worthwhile.

Hi Vtec-e:

___My pics from the 2008 NAIAS were not nearly as nice as Ford’s own but it is the exact same and it looks nice too!

http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/2/Verve_Concept_Interior.jpg

___The concept’s interior and exterior looked locked in but the actual platform was still a concept when it appeared in Detroit. You could tell how the doors were not attached like a production car was or the headrests with the fancy chrome rails and such. The interior appointments in the dash however looked very production ready. If you want more, just ask as I have a few more that may provide more detail.

___The only real question is still which ICE are they going to use for the US? I was with Mrs. Donavan for over an hour doing all I could pushing for the 1.2L SI-ICE w/ ECOBoost but Ford will probably still play the stupid game (HP at all costs) and place the aging 2.0 Duratec in it (w/ tall gearing however) for the US while everybody else gets the fuel efficient 1.4 and 1.6L super diesels.

___What they place in the upcoming Fiesta will be telling if they got the message yet or not. If they screw this up, the rest of their decisions are still being determined by 20th century management and thinking. If they do this right, expect to see nice FE increases across the board on the entire lineup. I have my fingers crossed but Ford has disappointed so many times in the past that I have little confidence they will do the right thing this time around?

___Either way, the Fiesta is a looker and with the Mazda2 underpinnings, could easily trounce anything in its class in the FE department (non-hybrids of course) if Ford does it right.

___Good Luck

Has anyone heard any numbers for the price range on the new Fiesta's? This just might be a good replacement for my '88 Escort if the price is right and I can keep the '88 running for a couple more years. I really like the looks of the 3 door hatchback and would be a good little car for me and the wife since my youngest son is nearly 18 and doesn't go with us much any more. Hopefully Ford will open their eyes and make this a really FE car. Surely with gas prices at an all time high and the competition from the hybrids they will do the best they can on it. It would also help them achieve the mandated average MPG rating without having to completely cut production on some of the better selling larger cars.

Hi Ford Man:

___You pulled this one out of the archives!

___Its MSRP should be less than the 2010 Focus but Ford will try and get more than the current Focus, I am sure. Remember they are competing with the Fit/Yaris so to expect prices to match. $14,500 + destination with the electric power package… I hope???

___Good Luck
