I'm a new member and have been trying out these techniques for just a couple of weeks. I recently (and finally) sold my F-150 (best was 15mpg) and have been driving a 1997 S-10. So far, I've bested 23mpg. Considering what I had before, I'm thrilled! But, it appears I can get better and it's been kind of a game for me commuting back and forth to work (80 miles round trip) just to see what my mpg will be at the end of the week.
I'm curious for any other members out there that do not have a new hybrid car. Just how well do these techniques work for an older truck that I'm driving? Is it possible to get 35 mpg, or better? Even if I only get 26 or 28mpgs, I'm still saving money, but was just curious about any comments.
I am looking at buying the scan gauge, that looks to be very beneficial to see where I'm getting the best mpg and keeping track of my rpms.
Thanks for any input!
