It's good to hear a report of a writer giving hypermiling a fair trial...you can comment him in this article. - Ed

I am driving on I-84 in the morning rush-hour traffic.

I am in the far right lane, a most unfamiliar place, traveling at a top speed of 50 mph. There is roughly 100 feet between my car and the next, which I am actively trying to maintain. When other cars cut in, I slow to allow the gap to regrow.

Essentially, I am driving exactly like the drivers I've always hated the most. The self-loathing gets so bad at one point I give myself the finger…http://www.courant.com/features/lifestyle/hc-hypermiling.artmay14,0,2895529.story?page=1

Very nice article. Sure sounds like he was quite the lead foot before hand to see improvments like that.

Great article. He sounded surprised it worked.

Got a call from one of my students a few weeks ago, irate that I didn't tell him the importance of tire pressure. We debated the point for a bit before he conceeded

Well ok, so you told me... but you didn't tell me it would work!

hehe

The only complaints I have is the part about steering and brakes not working, and the attempt at drafting, but at least he decided it was a bad idea.

Overall it was pretty good.
