This is an event coming up in the Finger Lakes area of NY, and
to try and spread a little interest I *finally* dug in and finished
putting together the relatively few pictures I took (http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/pix/ggp07/) at it *last
year*. I was going to post this to continue an existing Priuschat
thread about it, but priuschat appears to be gronked again and the
event certainly isn't just about Priuses or even hybrids per se.
It's a rally in the morning and then a show and some talks in the
afternoon.
.
I talked to Bob Gillespie today and he's concerned of the lack of
info on the web site, but he's going to get that fixed and says
that registration is pretty active. They're also doing a lot of
publicity this year, and have big banners up at either end of town.
.
Any interest from the northeasterners?? I figure I'm going, and
I also learned that the state park campground opens May 2 -- just
in time for the night before the event. Bob also says the Motor
Inn is offering some kind of discounted rates and he'll try to
get that up on the website later.

Would love to check it out as it is only about a 230 mile drive for me but have to work that weekend. If you post the website maybe I can stick the info in my calendar for next year.

The GGP website (http://greengrandprix.com/) is linked in my page referenced above.
They even seem to have fixed the 2008schedule page.

Just returned from the Green Grand Prix, where (no surprise) Hobbit took top honors for the fuel economy award (actually 3: Best Overall, Best Hybrid, and Best 4 cyl Hybrid) at 59.7 MPG on a fairly hilly course. I came in second with 56.8. We both got lost, and were near the bottom of the rally points competion, also no surprise. Lots of fun, many cool vehicles, and learned a few things.

More later, probably on my website (http://www. willieyee.info/ZhangHeng.html).

Neicy and I stuck around a little longer and toured the Glen
itself, and there will be pix soon. It was pretty awesome.
.
Pulled 61.1 mpg for the run home; it was almost a *perfect*
afternoon for a drive yesterday, even if not quite the Prius'
optimal breathing temperature, and I took a fairly leisurely
and scenic route back. Well, parts of Schenectady weren't
so scenic but certainly made up for by the 2100-foot ridges
through the Berkshires. Oof, my battery hurts.

You were lucky you left when you did. I hit all the pea-soup fog late last night. It was 15 degrees colder when I got home than it was there. I managed to get 56.6 for the trip home - my best tank so far this year and still holding it.

Hobbit, you did an awesome job with all those hills and you deserve every one of the awards. And Doc you weren't too shabby either.:Banane35:
