Hey all. I live in a small town in southwest Missouri. My daily driving is as follows...

home to work
work to class
class to home
home to class
class to home
home to class
class to work
work to class
class to home.

Anyway, you get the idea.. I travel back and forth a lot. I can cut out a couple trips, but not many. Other than that, I make a 70-mile trip to/from a larger town to do auto-racing photography every Saturday night.

My first two tanks on the Yaris were at 31MPG and 32MPG

Tank1 - in town, having fun too :)
Tank2 - HWY 80mph.

I just ordered a scanguage, so hopefully I can learn how to drive! Anyway... this seems like a cool place. If you have any tips, let me know!

Welcome!

Please read the "Beating the EPA" article on the right side of the home page. Lots o' tips there.

Quick Tips:

Tip 1: pump up your tires to at least max sidewall. They won't pop, but your FE will go up quite a bit.

Tip 2: Slow down. This alone will save you $$$. In my truck, I would drive 400 miles in a weekend going home from college. I literally DOUBLED my MPG going from 75mph to 60-65mph after I started bringing my dog with on trips. For an extra 20 min, I saved $30 each way. The Yaris won't be as much, but it'll still get dramatically better FE and lower gas bills.

Welcome to the club and I agree with the above. Air up those tires, slow down, and read Beating the EPA - It's like money in your pocket.

Keep us posted as to your progress. You've got a great vehicle for some serious hypermiling.

Bolivar. I am a student at Southwest Baptist University, do programming for Duck Creek Technologies, and photography on the side.

Nixa, eh? That's a nice place! I used to take a seadoo down there to get fixed several times each summer!
