Civic sales holding there own. (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/in-the-news/t-july-hybrid-and-fuel-efficient-non-hybrid-sales-toyota-non-hybrids-taking-a-hit-5755.html#post39619)

The 2007 Honda Civic. With its relatively efficient ICE, performance oriented handling, a real world 33 mpg and a price tag from $15 - $22K, its sales are still rising vs. its Toyota non-hybrid counterparts as their sales ease.
The fuel efficient Hybrids and non-hybrids are continuing to increase overall market share but with a few dents showing in Toyota’s armor with regards to the Corolla, Yaris, TCH, HiHy and RXh overall.
The Toyota Prius hybrid mid-size sedan posted yet another increase in monthly sales with a 50.5% increase over July of 2006. The Toyota Camry Hybrid reported sales of 4,329, down 10.2% from the year ago monthly sales comparison period. The FE/MMH twins with their combined sales of 1,578 units yielded a loss of 33.8% vs. the same selling period a year ago which was somewhat disappointing. The HiHy sold 1,205 units, down 54.9%. The Lexus RX 400h hybrid reported sales of 1,385 units for the month, up 18.3% vs. the year ago sales period. With the Honda Accord Hybrid discontinued, sales are dribbling off to just 260 units during the month of July.
For the fuel efficient non-hybrid automobiles, the Corolla continues to lead all sales with sales of 29,719 units for the month of July albeit with a somewhat surprising decline of 25.9% from the year-ago period. The non-hybrid standout is the Honda Civic holding its own with sales totals of 27,852 units, a slight increase of 1.4% over the same period a year ago. The Toyota Yaris subcompact posted June sales totaling 8,126, a decrease of 16.5% over the same period a year ago.
Overall sales YTD (year to date) of the “Big 7” Hybrids showed an increase of 44.8% vs. the year ago January through July sales period. The Prius-II making up the bulk of that increase with its own 85.5% increase YTD compared to this time last year. The performance and SUV hybrids are still in decline (Toyota and GM, are you seeing this?) whereas non-hybrid and hybrid Civic sales are holding their own.
The biggest development comes from the FEH/MMH twins. With total sales approaching the 60,000 unit level, the Federal Tax Credit reduction time clock will soon begin. What this means is that the current $3,000 Federal tax credit on the 08 FEH will begin to fall precipitously in the second quarter following the 60,000 unit sales breach. Expect that current tax credit to be halved on January 1, 2008 if the current sales pace continues.
