Consumers are taking their own hybrid vehicles to the next level, by converting them to also accept plug-in electrical power, thus boosting their fuel economy even more. Now, the Chrysler Group says it will become the only manufacturer to sell plug-in hybrids when it begins selling new versions of its Sprinter cargo and passenger van. The vehicles, as many as 40 Sprinters, will be placed with customers in California, New York and other locations to test the acceptance and usability of the plug-in vehicles, which use gas engines and batteries to provide power. Chrysler says that plug-in hybrids are ideal for business use since they can be used for shift work, then plugged in during off-peak hours when electricity is in less demand. The Sprinter plug-in hybrid will be tested with a five-cylinder diesel engine or a V6 gas engine.

Hi Phil:

___Given the Sprinter PHEV is meant to be used as a low speed stop and go delivery vehicle, those EV motors and large pack are perfect for its intended use!

___Good Luck
