2010 Ford Fiesta Econetic - 63.6 mpgUS combined on the NEDC.

Ford won two BBC Top Gear awards that recognize the company's prowess at extreme ends of the auto industry spectrum.

On the Power side, the Ford Focus RS is the fastest and the most powerful front-wheel-drive Ford has ever produced in Europe. This vehicle was selected as "Muscle Car of the Year" by BBC Top Gear magazine.

Ok, that vehicles fits the gear head mentality

Additionally, Ford's lowest carbon emitting model, the 63.6 mpgUS combined rated Ford Fiesta ECOnetic is Top Gear's "Green Car of the Year".

Did someone tell Jeremy Clarkson it’s either a proctology exam or vote yes :D

In assessing the awards, the BBC Top Gear team took into account all aspects of the vehicles. Editor, Conor McNicholas commenting on the Green Car of the Year award said: "We’re hugely impressed with the Fiesta Econetic. In an era where too many think going green means having a fun-lobotomy, this Ford matches spritely on road dynamics with fabulous fuel economy. There really is no compromise. Make them all like this!"

On hearing the news, Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain's managing director, said: "We are delighted to have Ford cars recognized in two completely different categories. It confirms our technical capability and the strength in-depth of Ford's fresh and exciting model range."

The Ford Fiesta is the top selling car in the UK with almost 110,000 sales this year. The Ford Fiesta ECOnetic and the Ford Focus RS are available from $23,855 USD and $43,975 USD, respectively.

Before I pass, please allow me the chance to drive the mighty Fiesta Econetic at least once

I have noticed Top Gear have gone a little more Green lately. Well done to all involved. The fiesta is a great little car and the econetic is better again.

I'd like to see the ECOnetic stateside. Instead we get the SFE option available only with the Auto 6 speed trans. It adds two mpg on the freeway to reach 40mpg. Woopee. Mostly with a grille block and bellypan that should be standard anyway.

Well I guess it's better than getting mugged and beaten.

Cmon Ford, don't just throw us an old bone, give us the full deal. Heck, at least survey the crowd at your own Fiesta page.

I noticed that too, but at least you'll probably be able to buy that bellypan and put it on a fiesta without that super fuel economy option. Seems like a better choice than what some of these people try to do with cardboard and coroplast.
