The 850 mpgUS rated Aptera 2e - Will it actually make it to market?
Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) come in many shapes and sizes and last night, Reliant Energy teamed up with the Houston Texans and Aptera to introduce the Aptera prototype to Houston for Monday Night Football.
Texans fans had the opportunity to experience the Aptera 2e before the game at Reliant Stadium and learn more about what NRG and Reliant are doing to expand the adoption of electric vehicles in Houston and across Texas.
“Electric cars are the key to ending our nation’s addiction to imported oil and we believe that keeping the $400 billion per year our nation sends overseas to fuel our cars is a priority shared by every American,” said David Crane, CEO of NRG Energy. “All-electric cars, like the Aptera prototype and other models coming to market over the next 18 months, are clean, cool and comfortable. Reliant will add the ‘convenience’ as we expect to make it possible for Houstonians to fuel their electric cars in the ‘convenience’ of their own garages, at work, while they shop and in other locations around Houston and Harris County,” continued Crane.
Reliant Energy is working to make the switch to cleaner, cheaper to operate BEVs practical for consumers. “There will be thousands of zero-emission BEVs on the roads in Houston and Texas in the next several years,” said Jason Few, President of Reliant Energy. “Through our partnerships with great organizations like the Texans, we are working to let people know about the tremendous advancements in electric vehicles. Reliant will make using these vehicles easy and affordable with a charging network and dedicated services making electric vehicles a simple and fun alternative to fossil-fuel powered transportation - taking advantage of Texas’ leadership in zero-carbon power generation.”
”We see Houston as one of our key markets as we continue our quest to deliver the world’s most efficient vehicles,” says Marques McCammon, Aptera’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We’re certainly impressed with the vision that NRG and Reliant have shown for the electric vehicle market, and we look forward to partnering with them in their future endeavors.”
