See Bikers Against Drunk Drivers (http://www.baddcentral.com/), then the video of this serial drunk killing an experienced biker (http://cbs11tv.com/local/haltom.city.drunk.2.1125972.html) ... someone want to say we are too tough on stuff like this? --Ed.

Stroud, of Bedford, died from injuries he received when his motorcycle was hit from behind by a car driven by a woman suspected of driving drunk, police said Wednesday.

“He had just bought the motorcycle on Monday,” said his friend Dorothy Kuhlman of North Richland Hills as she fought back tears during a telephone interview on Wednesday. “He had had motorcycles before, so he was experienced with them. He said he was going out for a ride.”

One of two prior DWI convictions was in Haltom City following another accident in August 2008, according to Tarrant County criminal court records. The other happened in Fort Worth in September 1994, records show. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail and fined $896 on the Fort Worth case and she was sentenced to 30 days in jail, seven years probation and fined $1,123 last year on the Haltom City case, according to court records.... http://www.star-telegram.com/189/story/1533457.html?storylink=omni_popular

Our motorcycle club was supporting Bill Stroud's son, Johnathan in Afghanistan with mail,stories and magazines. It was with total disbelief when we heard the sad news that Johnathan had been killed over there. His Dad, Bill seemed to be a very proud father and was encouraging us to support our troops overseas. It was with great sadness and shock that we read about Bills untimely death. The woman who killed him should be put on death row. Her third time drunk driving, give us a break! She deserves what she gets! There are few men like Bill and his son Johnathan, and I know that they will be really and truly missed.

A DUI should be treated as attempted murder. A DUI fatality should be treated as first-degree murder.

This sorry piece of human disgrace hasn't been bound in a cage and given water and food every four days yet??? ok, maybe that's a bit harsh. Have her do hard labor for the rest of her life and all the money gets donated to programs preventing/reducing drunk driving. She gets to eat, be clothed, sheltered in jail and owns nothing...

Decades ago my brother was in a motorcycle accident when a car struck him. He would have been dead if a bystander hadn't intervened and told him to turn his sorry ass around and help get him to a hospital. That ended his experience with motorcycles. He drove the 1970 Buick Skylark after that.

A DUI should be treated as attempted murder. A DUI fatality should be treated as first-degree murder.

Indeed.

But I would even take it one step further by equating it to potential mass murder... almost bordering on domestic terrorism.
Doing so would be perfectly acceptable to me since when you're operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, the potential for multiple fatalities and significant material losses is always present.
Add the fact that the intoxication was a voluntary and conscious act, and you have the moral grounds to deny these people their freedoms in response to the "right to life" they are willing to deny to others.

Cheers;
