Washington - The Senate on Thursday confirmed an expert on global climate change as President Obama's top adviser on science and technology policy.

John Holdren became the president’s science adviser as director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. He has advocated sharp government action on climate change policy and is a former president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the nation’s largest science organization (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29795769/#).

Holdren celebrated Thursday evening with staff at his new office, declining to comment except to say: “I’m very happy to have been confirmed.”.... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29795769/

Yes, good news.

I'm doing my best to hold back venomous words regarding our previous Administration's approach to science and technology.

This sincere interest in bringing science into our policy choices will pay off for many generations...as long as it doesn't get blocked by adversaries to anything and everything that the President promotes.

I recall hearing on NPR about this a few weeks ago, at least the increased interest in making science more prominent in schools so that young students will be more aware of those careers here in America. It's a good investment in our future.

Now someone develop a cheap, quick charging, battery pack for EV's that doesn't weigh 500lbs or hurt the environment. Please. :flag: - Dale

Scientific integrity. Music to my ears, and the first time I've heard the term used in a positive sense by the US government in eight years.

The potential of the US to reclaim its grace as the beacon of light of the world is now kinetic. No more holding back.

Lubchenco also. Both still need senate floor votes. yes?

I understand that Holdren was associated with PNGV, but having trouble locating a pithy link for that.

No, it sounds like both Holdren and Lubchenco received full and unanimous Senate approval and are cleared for their jobs.
