Citroen C-Metisse - a hybrid that is out of this world.
Why else would the company’s very own press materials say, “looking at C-Métisse is a visual shock in itself.”
Citroen’s Paris show-stopper is a four-door, four-seat GT coupe. The car measures 186 inches long and 49-inces high, making it longer and lower than a Ferrari 599 GTB. The four doors scissor upwards like a Lamborghini.
The V6 turbodiesel develops 208 hp, and there’s a 20 hp electric motor in each rear wheel. The idea is that in the city the C-Metisse is a zero emissions vehicle using only its electric motors. On the highway the motors can be used to boost performance. Citroen figures the C-Metisse can hit 62mph in just 6.2sec.
The C-Metisse is too outlandish for production even by Citroen standards. But the French automaker has committed to produce a diesel-electric hybrid, it hopes by 2010.
