Not your everyday Chevrolet interior either. (cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=152731)

Upcoming 2009 European Chevrolet Cruze.

Paris – GM revealed the all-new Chevrolet Cruze at a premiere event prior to the Paris auto show opening this morning.

Media and guests received a first-hand look at the upcoming Cruze’ exterior with it tight panel-fits and shut lines, minimal amount of exterior trim, a dual bezel design on the headlamps and an integrated rear spoiler.

The Cruze’ interior is what shines however.

“The interior must build a relationship with drivers. It’s where they spend their time,” says David Lyon, executive director of GM Interior Design. “Fabric is warm and inviting in ways plastics cannot be. It offers unique detail with fibers, colors and textures. Instead of limiting fabric to seats, we spread that warmth and luxury throughout the vehicle.”

Although the information center between the Speedometer and tach is the standard and dated GM looking display, the integrated center stack (ICS) design which houses the infotainment display, radio and HVAC controls is a step up over any compact in GM’s past.

Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze will start in Europe in March 2009, followed by other global regions. The arrival of the new compact vehicle spearheads a roll-out of new products for Chevrolet, expected to further propel the global growth of brand.

That's an extremely nice interior shot IMO.

Hope it delivers as many MPG as there are BUTTONS on the center stack (42 or so)...

That's an extremely nice interior shot IMO.

And I see lots of bits in there from the GM parts bin, so there's no reason to suspect the final version won't be reasonably close to what we see here. I would expect more two-tone interiors like the current Malibu, at least on the LT or LTZ trim levels. The base cars will likely have enough plastic to make passengers think they are seated in a booth at McD's. But with that being said, having the option to go for the nicer interior is welcome improvement from the domestic automakers. If the interior shown above hits our shores in a reliable and efficient car with highway EPA numbers approaching those of the current-gen Prius, and available at a price on target with the competition, I think it will be a serious force in the compact car segment.

If anyone inside GM is reading this, offer us an XFE edition with a 6sp MT and gearing that keeps that little FamilyZero four-banger hovering around 1700rpm at 55mph. Anyone who follows 0 to 60 times and the number of G's of lateral grip can buy the SS edition with a 4:1 final drive. For the rest of us, set the gearing and PCM algorithms to keep us out of boost and revvin' low-n-slow so we can celebrate bangin' out tank after tank averaging 60mpg or so.

They've finally caught up, but we still have another year or two for this to come here. The civic gets a full make over in 2010 as well and I'm anxious to see how far they go.

Exterior looks extremely similar to the 2009 Toyota Corolla...

Sweet!

A real navigation and not just crap-star!

Really hot IMHO. Is this the car getting the 1.4T engine?

If they bring the price down, it looks like it should do well, but i'll be very surprised if this warrants paying more than you could get a Honda or Toyota for.

I wouldn't get too excited about the interior yet. Most of GM and Ford's interior fit and finish are outstanding in Europe and garbage here in the states. The engineers and designers of GM and Ford can build fantastic cars and their accountants and Execs can tear it down to disposable levels.

The stock radio better be good with an MP3 or iPod connection becuase it don't look like you can put an aftermarket radio in that.
