Crude oil prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange closed Wednesday at $75.19 per barrel, up $1.26 from Friday, breaking the record of $75.17 set on April 21. The market was closed Monday and Tuesday for the July Fourth holiday.

U.S. crude prices also broke the intraday record of $75.35, also set on April 21, by reaching $75.40 per barrel in midday trading Wednesday.

Gasoline futures jumped by more than 5.7 cents to settle at $2.2758 a gallon. Heating oil closed at $2.0626 a gallon, up 3.4 cents.

They also say the Nat'l average will likely exceed $3.00/g by this coming weekend.
Can anyone imagine what would happen if the supply was sigificantly threatened?

when i left work last night, it was already at 3.09. it had gone up since the morning. i spent a lot of time on my way home coasting in neutral......

My usual station has gone up to $3.159, with the Mobil across the street at $3.199. Yet another pair of stations down the road are all the way up at $3.249. So far this spring my $/mi numbers have been roughly level as my FE keeps pace with price increases, but I fear I'm going to start to fall behind very soon. $0.072/mi and climbing...

Time to start pushing yourself for better FE.

It's just under $2.85 the last I checked.

Might get slapped for bringing it up, but a number of people mention if they take their hybrid to the gas station and there is a huge vehicle nearby, some of those owners give dirty looks. Those hybrid owners did nothing. Ditto for a similar situation I was in.

When someone chooses to get something that takes $100 to fillup three times more often than a car that takes just $40 or less to fillup, then reacts negatively even to the point of hostility towards the hybrid driver, something is twisted. :(

My civic blends in so nobody notices it's a hybrid.

Our good family friend bought a new Explorer last year for a commuter car. They don't talk about it but I know their family must be taking a big hit. We both have about the same commutes, but he fills +$70 every 5 days or so, while I pay $33 every 10.
For friends sake I don't mention it either.

i just gloat 2 digits a month for gas and the crowd goes crazy!~~~

honestly what's so hard about downgrading into a small car? people are obessed with safety... ha!

crap, that probably means I missed the only reasonable window
to buy heating oil for next winter..
