Amazing - isn't it? (http://www.examiner.com/blogs-73-Yeas_and_Nays~y2008m6d10-Move-over-Hummers-Rummys-a-Vespa-guy)

Before you click the article - who is it? Powell? Wolfowitz? Rice? Rumsfield? Cheney?! Bush himself? -- Ed.

Some critics of ****** say pushed the Bush Administration into Iraq for the oil

If that really was the case, then ****** latest effort may reveal the folly of that effort: As gas prices continue to climb, ****** has purchased one of those remarkably fuel efficient Vespas.

That's right: ******* got a scooter.

Yeas & Nays has learned that Mr. Macho recently stopped by the Vespa dealership in Glover Park and took home a LXV 150 scooter, which can reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour (and get 60 miles per gallon to boot). It's hardly a Hummer, but with $4/gallon gas, sacrifices have to be made… http://www.examiner.com/blogs-73-Yeas_and_Nays~y2008m6d10-Move-over-Hummers-Rummys-a-Vespa-guy

I seriously doubt he's riding it. It's probably a gift for a friend or family member.

Sweet ride Rummy! Now, pump those tires up good and once you get the pulse and glide figured out you can probably get 100mpg out of that scooter. You're right Lone Star, let's keep the politics out of the comments, who cares about left or right, saving gas is saving gas.

The Harley guy is the idiot.

I don't know where Rum lives in the DC area, but if it's anywhere where he bought the bike, it would make sense. Even downtown, lots of bikes and scooters in the District these days.

It would make a lot of sense to have it at the second house in St. Michaels, although a bicycle would work there just as well.

Remarkable he didn't fly to Italy to pick it up tax free!

Oh thats right, he has a warrant for his arrest by the European Union from Germany and Sweden for War Crimes against Humanity... and cannot leave the United States of America for fear of actual prosecution.

He must have lost money with the depreciated dollar against the Euro, its a shame, he really would have got a deal in Italy!

To bad too...

He could bring gifts to the new Iraqi Government, like the good old days of 83. "Rumsfeld brought many gifts from the Reagan administration to Saddam Hussein. These gifts included pistols, medieval spiked hammers and a pair of golden cowboy spurs."

:flag:

Hope he gets 80 MPG out of the thing!

Perhaps not if you've just had hip surgery :).

Things are tough all over. I guess that that huge government pension doesn't go very far on $4 gas!

Wow, so much hate for a guy you only know from the press and we all know how honest the press is in their coverage of something or someone they don't agree with now don't we.

The article said he purchased the Vespa. It didn't say he was the one who was going to be the rider. I doubt someone his age and with hip problems would ride any two wheel motor vehicle. It's more likely he bought it for someone in the family. Even if he did buy it for himself, big deal. We should be happy that even a former big government official recognizes the need to save some gas. Now an even bigger news story would be the Governator of California zipping around on a princess Vespa instead of a Harley or a Hummer. It would work for his ultra thin wife cause the little engine wouldn't have to work as hard to get up those hills compared to his bulk. But even then, what would be wrong with a Harley? It's still far more fuel efficient than most cars on the road today and takes up less than half the space on the road.
