More than a decade has passed since the Toyota Prius hybrid debuted in 1997.
By 2000, the Honda Insight and Civic hybrids had joined the U.S. automotive market. But, for years, environmentally conscious consumers had little to choose from beyond a compact or mid-sized sedan.
Today, driven by spiraling gas prices, the "green car" market has blossomed.
