The scope of higher gas prices continues to exceed any forecasts. -- Ed.

Food banks in rural Alberta say higher prices for gasoline are forcing them to rethink how they operate.

Lori McRitchie, who runs the food bank in Airdrie, says volunteers used to drive their own vehicles to the Calgary food bank to pick up perishables.

I volunteer on occasion, but haven't really thought of the fuel involved to get there. Sometimes they feed me, which makes me happy, and I try to ride my bike in summer if I can.
