The kid riding in the Prius hatch is priceless. (http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080504/BUSINESS/805040442/1003) - Rob

LOUISVILLE, KY - Louisvillian's switch to a Prius hybrid should cut his fuel costs by $9,000 a year

A Ford Crown Victoria taxicab gets 10 to 15 miles per gallon and can easily fit four passengers.

Mark Carroll's Toyota Prius taxi gets 45 to 60 mpg and can fit five passengers, if one is willing to curl up in the hatch.

That is where 5-foot, 3-inch Canadian David P. Mountain, 24, found himself on a recent Saturday night when he and a group of buddies called ReadyCAB to ferry them from a Middletown hotel to "tear a strip into Louisville" at 4th Street Live.

"This is solid," Mountain called from the hatch as the cab zipped down Interstate 64. "I have never been in a hybrid before."

Long a staple in cities like San Francisco, Seattle and New York City, hybrid taxicabs have begun appearing recently in places as far-flung as Phoenix; Iowa City, Iowa; and Grand Rapids, Mich.

Cabbies like Carroll who foot their own fuel bills are driving the trend that brought the first hybrid taxicab to Louisville late last month.…http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080504/BUSINESS/805040442/1003

I would imagine 4 passengers are a bit more comfortable in the vic, than they would be in the prius. Although this reminds me of the time I had 4 passengers in my crx.
