Well after much research I bought a nice 06 HCHII with 19900 miles on it yesterday. I know from reading this and other sites that the MPG gauge on the trip meter can be off slightly. My seems to read low, on my 209 mile trip from WI/IL it read 46.9 but I got 52.25 after filling up at home. Ran 65 with the cruise on all the way. Considering the good crosswind and then headwinds we had I am more than happy with that.

Hi and welcome to the site. This (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1306) is a great article about the HCH II by Tarabell. You should read it first if you haven't already. The article has a wealth of information and techniques for the HCH II

Again, Welcome to the forum.

Welcome and those are some great starting numbers. I look forward to reading about your progress but be careful, hypermiling is addictive.

Awesome! Congratulations on the HCH II! My uncle is looking at one currently. Hope he gets it so I can take it for a hypermiling spin!

Yes I was very happy with the MPG on the way home. From LaCrosse Wi. to Belvidere, IL all on I90. 209.5 miles at only 4.0 gallons. My 02 Accord used 7.2 following behind. I used the cruise because that's what I will do on my commute each day. 46 miles of interstate and about 7 miles of city streets at 45 mph. I was hoping to see 45 and I would have been happy with that given the conditions (hills and wind). Now I think I may match my VX that I just sold this week. I'll have to see how acurate the trip meter mpg gauge is in time. I've have read Tarabells writeup and it is very informative.
