Vehicle: Scion xB (not pictured - just illustrating a roof surfer)
Place: Texas 360 freeway in Arlington (six lanes - urban)

A bored 24-year old man was climbing out of a Scion xB on the freeway Thursday night attempting to roof surf similar to the one pictured. He fell - about four miles south of Six Flags Over Texas where he could have safely taken an amusement ride. He was listed in critical condition, not intoxicated but may have had a couple of beers. The driver fled the scene.

He gives idiots a bad name.

That's not a Scion xB. It's a Suzuki Sidekick.

The location is also nowhere near Highway 360 that I recognize despite having commuted that highway, or near it, for 2 years.

What gives?

What gives?Read it again...the picture is to illustrating roof surfing - not an actual picture of him or the Scion xB - besides it happend at night. He was on TX 360 between Pioneer and Arkansas exits, 3-4 miles south of 360 and I30 where Six Flags is located.

I've heard about "ghost-riding" aka roof surfing but that's usually very low speed in parking lots.

This JOTD comes complete with a bonus jerk. IMO the the driver is worse than the surfer who was mainly a fool.

On March 19, two Univ of Texas - San Antoinio student were roof surfing and thrown when the car went down a hill. One surfer was injured, the other killed at the scene. :( The driver will likely face manslaughter charges. Anyone ever seen "elevator surfing?" Another foolish thing some of the young adults are doing these days. You can find it (and anything else, for that matter) on Youtube.com
