Anyone know of a good place to look for a Honda Insight? I've been checking a few websites (honda.com, autotrader) and can't find any for sale within 2,000 miles of me (Jacksonville, FL) :(

I found one in Orlando, the link is http://orlando.craigslist.org/car/605269411.html

Any thoughts?

Looks good. Ask if recall work has been performed, if battery has ever been replaced. Make sure no accidents, clean title, no salvage title (voids warranty).

I found mine at the Honda dealership. Went in to buy a 3 cent crush washer for my old car and left with a beautiful Insight! Also check E-bay as I have seen them there as well. :)

I had to purchase mine out of state and ship it from Casper, WY to Dallas, TX. I looked for months but was unable to locate an acceptable candidate in TX.

Kind of far from you but this is where I just got my 06 HCHII. Great to deal with and they are into hybrids, CNG, and Electrics big time.

I've been doing some research and i think i'm actually going to hold off for a '08 or '09 Fit. Those cars are way too cool looking to pass up. The Vivid Blue Pearl color is especially appealing. I think I could get ~50mpg consistently with a manual given my commute.

Now, I just have to wait a few months to see whether I can afford it :) Fertility doctors will suck your bank account dry regardless of your level of fiscal responsibility, if you didn't know. How can you put a price on having children?

It says it won hybridfest last year.

Ah yes -- Billy's car! I've not seen it in person but I'm sure you remember red-capped Billy from the first Reenactment, Jud. He is meticulous in the extreme and I hear his car is simply incredible. :D

Why is he selling it ... and why can't I afford it!!! Man, someone will be very lucky. Hope he is being discretionary as to the owner ... would hate for it to get ruined. I wish I could get it, and red is not my favorite color.

See this (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7049) thread and this (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7353) thread.

It isn't his daily driver -- its his show car. Contrary to my original statements I did eventually buy an Insight -- but his is in unbelievable shape! He also put a killer stereo system (cool if you like that sort of thing) into it, along with cruise control and a rearview camera system to replace the sideview mirrors. There is a little lcd on the dash to let you see behind you and the camera is in the driver's side rear tail light housing! He even waxes the back of the wheels!

It is a gorgeous car and whoever ends up with it will have one heck of a ride.

It has the best paint job of any Insight I've seen - bar none.

Removal of the mirrors and rear wiper blade reduced the Cd from .25 to .235. (he has a video cam to replace the mirrors)

With A/C, my Insight weights 1900lbs, but Billy's is about 1750lbs.

This is the ultimate hypermiler machine....only thing I can think of to add is a FAS switch.

I talked to Billy today... The car is sold to a guy in the San Francisco area. Hopefully the guy keeps it as clean as Billy did.

Why do all these red Insights with 90 lmpg+ end up in The Bay? :D

Hi Chuck:

___Billy's was in the high 80's. I have asked him multiple times to enter all his tanks and not just the good ones but you know how that goes ... :(

___Good Luck

I don't have a red one but I'm trying to add another car to the list -- only in Coon Rapids. ;)

>There are 17 on Autotrder.com, right now, and
8 on Ebay. There are def. good candidates on both
sites. Yahoo doesn't seem to be getting used.
I got mine off Ebay .The second vehicle I have
bought there.
One on Autrader has a MIMA switch already installed
and has low miles to boot.
The real thing is finding one locally. If you can.
It pays to be patient and PRAY!
Hey, it worked for me. I got an excellant one
locally, saved me then nerve charge of long distance
deal.
Right now, i'm looking into installing an All in one
in dash DVD GPS,radio, with full windows XP PC
operating system. They are on Ebay too. Built in
Finland.
Prob. is the A/C control. But this unit has swivel
7 in screen, and I think it can be mounted less than
flush to make up for A/C knob.
Got my Armrest. Its a really nice quality unit, but
doesn't have the cup holder the other one has.
Took all of five minutes to install.
